Have a Check-Up from the Neck Up

Cynthia Norman, LPC, owner of The Art of Therapy, LLC, since 2011, is a holistic counselor who believes in the power of mind, body and spirit. She is a pastoral counselor trained in spirituality with a mental health degree and holds a license in massage therapy. Norman uses natural treatments, but does not deter clients from seeking psychiatry to treat their maladies.

She says, “One of the major issues that I face as a mental health provider is no-shows. It is common to have clients who feel that mental health is not important. They feel that they do not want to talk or cannot afford to see their therapist. These folks would never not go to their medical doctors, but their mental health is just not that important. Anxiety and depression head most of the causes of distress in our world. This is the case in my practice, as well.”
