New MOM’s Organic Grocery is Coming Soon

Founded in 1987, MOM’s Organic Market Center City will open soon at 34 South 11th Street, in Philadelphia, with a Grand Opening for an entire weekend planned summer. MOM’s is 100 percent green powered, with their own designated Solar Farm in Kingsville, Marayland, and solar panels at their Waldorf and White Marsh stores.
MOM’s donates more than $500,000 each year to environmental organizations because they believe that environmental degradation and climate change are the biggest problems facing humankind today. By instituting best practices to reduce our impact on the environment and educating staff and customers, they are influencing customers, employees and other businesses.
With stores in four states and Washington, D.C., MOM’s employs more than 1,000 people in all, and pays a $12 minimum wage. They believe it’s important to enrich their lives with access to book sessions, classes and seminars that focus on the organic industry, personal and professional growth, mindfulness and wellness.
MOM’s Organic Market has grown to become the Mid-Atlantic region's premier chain of family owned and operated organic grocery stores, selling 100 percent certified organic produce, sustainable seafood (even the canned tuna), sustainable insect proteins, an extensive bulk sections, a backyard beekeeping section and an expansive health and wellness area.
MOM’s has created a corporate culture centered on protecting and restoring the environment. They offer free car charging stations at all stores, as well as recycling centers for battery, bar wrapper, cellphone, compost, drink pouch, eyeglasses, cork and shoe recycling. In 2005, MOM’s banned plastic bags from stores and in 2010, went even further to ban bottled water. MOM’s environmental restoration captains at each store ensure the company is meeting all sustainability goals and coordinate volunteer opportunities in the community.
At the age of 22, Scott Nash started MOM’s Organic Market as a home delivery business out of his mom’s garage with an initial investment of $100.
